Joining forces with scientists around the globe

DEEP will be the official German contribution to the worldwide operating International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC).

IHEC aims to provide free access to 1,000 high-resolution reference human epigenome maps for normal and disease cell types to the research community. Apart from DEEP, IHEC currently unites research projects funded by the US, Canada, Italy, Japan, South Korea, France, the UK and the European Commission. Based on global standards and experimental approaches IHEC helps systemize international epigenetics research. For the first time comparable data analysis will thus become possible.

The joint endeavor of national research teams from all over the world will contribute to a better understanding of human health. Consequently, the achievements of IHEC will hopefully also lead to the discovery of new means to treat and prevent diseases.
