DEEP successfully hosts the IHECAnnual Meeting 2017 in Berlin, Germany

For the second time the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and DEEP had the pleasure to host the annual meeting of the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC) as well as the IHEC “Science Days” Symposium at the Kaiserin Friedrich Haus in Berlin.  From 12 to 14 October 2017, nearly 200 epigenomics scientists and funding agency members from around the world used this opportunity to exchange their knowledge and engage in fruitful discussions.

As in the past, the annual meeting day offered various sessions including country updates, working group reports and an engaging discussion on future directions of IHEC. Aiming to further increase collaboration and exchange with other initiatives and consortia in the field as IHEC moves on, this last session of the day also saw inspiring talks by John Marioni (EMBL-EBI) representing the Human Cell Atlas and Ananda Roy (NIH) introducing the Human BioMolecular Atlas Program.

The three-day conference marked the final meeting of DEEP, which joined IHEC in 2012. Complimenting presentations from internationally renowned scientists on their latest findings in epigenomics, the IHEC Science Days offered a number of high-level talks from DEEP scientists highlighting the results and findings of the five-year program.
